FAQ'S

What is injection molding?

Injection molding is a widely used manufacturing process for producing plastic parts in large quantities. The process involves melting raw thermoplastic material, injecting it into an injection mould under high pressure, and cooling it to form components of the desired shape with consistent quality and low unit cost.

It is popular due to its low unit cost, ability to manufacture complex shapes with consistent quality, and high design flexibility. It also enables a wide variety of surface textures and materials compared to processes like CNC machining.

An injection mould (or mold die) is a custom-engineered hollow metal block—typically made of high-grade steel or aluminum—into which molten plastic is injected. It acts as the “heart” of the injection molding process, transferring precise geometries, surface textures, and structural features to mass-produced plastic components.

An injection molding machine consists of three primary units:

  • The Injection Unit: Melts the plastic via heat and shear and accumulates the molten material before injection.
  • The Mold (Tool): The precision die that shapes the plastic.
  • The Clamping / Ejection Unit: Opens and closes the mold, exerts the high clamping force required to keep the mold closed during injection, and ejects the finished molded products.

A mold typically consists of two halves:

  • The Cavity (Front): Usually forms the A-side (the more visually appealing side) of the molded part.
  • The Core (Back): Usually forms the B-side (the functional side containing hidden structural elements, ejector pin traces, etc.).

At Bhoomi Mould Industries, we select mold materials based on your production volume, budget, and durability requirements:

  • Hardened Steel (e.g., P20, H13, NAK80): Ideal for high-volume mass production (hundreds of thousands to millions of parts) due to superior wear resistance and durability.
  • Pre-Hardened Steel: Used for larger parts or medium-scale production runs.
  • Aluminum or Beryllium Copper Alloys: Economical for rapid prototyping, smaller batches, or specific areas requiring rapid heat dissipation.

Yes, we design and manufacture both types depending on your requirements:

  • Single-Cavity Molds: Perfect for low-volume production, large parts, or initial prototyping and testing.
  • Multi-Cavity Molds & Family Molds: Engineered for high-volume mass production to drastically reduce per-unit cycle time and overall manufacturing costs. We also build multi-component (2K/3K) overmolding dies.

We ensure exceptional precision in every injection mould through advanced CAD/CAM design engineering, high-precision CNC machining, EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining), and rigorous quality inspections. Every critical dimension, parting line, gating channel, and cooling layout is meticulously checked to guarantee flawless, repeatable performance during production.

We provide complete post-delivery lifecycle support for all our mould dies. Whether you need routine mold maintenance, replacement of wear-and-tear components (such as ejector pins or inserts), or engineering modifications due to a product design update, our team is equipped to assist you swiftly.
